The Association associates 90 members from Germany, Polish, Swiss and Czech Republic.

The objectives of the association include measures for the preservation and development of waterways and ports in the basin of the Oder River, its tributaries and canals in harmony with environmental protection requirements, supporting water transport and its economic and technological development in connection with water management and culture of the country, presentation of lectures, seminars and publications to understand the value and importance of an efficient system of waterways in public transport and supporting the scientific development, making aware of economic bases for issues concerning the construction, operation and use of waterways and ports.
