Strategy

The Szczecin and Świnoujście Seaports Authority is responsible for two ports that are of primary significance for the Polish economy. The Seaports Authority is a joint-stock company with the majority interest of the State Treasury. It was established under the Ports and Harbors Law of 29 December 1996.

The Company is responsible for managing port property and infrastructure, forecasting and planning the development of the ports, and building, modernizing and maintaining port infrastructure, as well as acquiring land for further development of the ports.

The Development Strategy of the Szczecin and Świnoujście Seaports until 2027 has been based on the analysis of market and legal conditions. Provisions of the Strategy are in line with plans included in the main strategic documents. While defining the vision of the Company, the Strategy determined long-term goals, whereas values distinguishing the two ports are defined in the mission.  Thus, our vision is the following: Szczecin and Świnoujście - leading ports on the South Baltic Sea.

And our mission:
Creating conditions supporting the development of ports of Szczecin and Świnoujście as the most universal port complex in the South Baltic Sea.

Two main strategic development goals for the ports of Szczecin and Świnoujście:

Providing services corresponding to market demand within rapidly changing transport functions, as well as other economic port functions, in particular distribution, logistics and industry.

Promoting integration of the Szczecin-Świnoujście port complex within the sea-land South-North transport corridor by investing in modern port infrastructure and sea and land access infrastructure necessary for the development of the ports.

Key projects contributing to further development of the ports of Szczecin and Świnoujście include:

  • dredging Świnoujście – Szczecin fairway to 12.5 m on its entire length,
  • dredging  access route to Świnoujście from Baltic Sea to 14.5 m as the first stage, and finally to 16.7 m,
  • building external port in Świnoujście with berthing facilities of technical depth 17 m,
  • investment in roads – locally, e.g. rebuilding road system at Międzyodrze in Szczecin, rebuilding and extending road system in Świnoujście – national and international DK/S3 development, including building and modernization,
  • modernizing railway lines E59 and C-E59, modernizing and extending port access infrastructure along railway line 401 Szczecin Dąbie-Świnoujście Port,
  • modernizing Oder Water System and eliminating barriers for developing inland shipping,
  • implementing project of connecting Oder and Danube,
  • regenerating commercially utilized land in both ports, as well as development of other port areas.

It is worth emphasizing that for several years now the Szczecin and Świnoujście Ports Authority has been one of the largest investors utilizing EU funding in the region. In 2014-2020, both ports implemented projects worth more than PLN500 million - co-funded by the EU. The Seaports Development Strategy until 2027 provides for investment into the Szczecin-Świnoujście port complex of nearly PLN 900 million.
