After modernization, the Chorzowskie quay is ready for operation

The Szczecin and Świnoujście Seaports Authority SA is consistently improving access to the port of Szczecin in the Kashubian Basin area. The next step towards completing the investment in this area is readiness for work, after a thorough modernization of the Chorzowski Quay.

The length of the Chorzowski quay is 295.65 m, the technical depth is 12.5 m. The permissible operational load on the quay is 40 kN/sq m. The modernization was carried out as part of the investment "Improvement of access to the port of Szczecin in the Kashubian Basin area", implemented by ZMPSiŚ SA . The quay and its facilities are mainly dedicated to handling bulk cargo.

It is worth recalling that as part of the same investment, a completely new Dąbrowieckie quay was built, mainly to handle regular transhipments of sulfuric acid. April 26 this year it served the first ship.

"Improving access to the port of Szczecin in the Kashubian Basin area" includes the reconstruction of the Chorzowskie, Katowickie, Chorzowskie-Uskok quays with a ro-ro ramp and the Gliwice Uskok quay, as well as the landing of the Notecki Basin and the construction of the Closing Quay. As part of the Project, the Kashubian Basin will be deepened to a depth of 12.5 m, along with the lining of the corners of the Ostrów Mieleński and Mieleńska Łąka Islands and the strengthening of the corner of the nab. Sosnowiecki. The project implementation status is currently approximately 86 percent. The general contractor of construction works is Korporacja Budowlana DORACO. The investment costs nearly PLN 223 million net and was co-financed by the EU from the Cohesion Fund under the Infrastructure and Environment Operational Program 2014-2020. (edited by ZMPSiŚ SA)
