The final stage of construction works on the installation terminal in the port of Świnoujście
Construction works of the investment of the Szczecin and Świnoujście Seaports Authority S.A. Mon. "Construction of the transhipment capacity of the sea port in Świnoujście for the needs of offshore wind energy" has entered the final stage of implementation. The investment works are carried out in accordance with the established schedule and contract provisions agreed with the future tenant, Orlen Neptun 2 Spółka z o. o., the general contractor of construction works, as well as with the agreement on co-financing from CEF funds, signed with the European Commission.
As a result of the implementation of the project "Construction of transhipment capacity of the seaport in Świnoujście for the needs of offshore wind energy", the following infrastructure will be created:
• a quay with a length of 249.2 m, a load capacity of 50 KN/m2 and a technical depth of 12.5 m intended for the reloading of wind tower elements;
• quay with a length of 245.8 m, load capacity 50 KN/m2 and technical depth of 12.5 m intended for the initial assembly of wind tower elements;
• 10 stations with a load capacity of 500 KN/m2 intended for the initial assembly of wind tower elements;
• 1,070 m long port canal with a turning basin and a port basin deepened to 12.5 m;
• a new approach track, 12.5 m deep and 140 m wide, will lead to the quays.
The construction of new port infrastructure will result in the following results:
• ensuring the safe entry and berthing of jack-up vessels with dimensions LOA 182 m, BEAM 60 m and a maximum draft of 11.0 m and other seagoing vessels;
• effective reloading operations of oversized cargo (mainly OWF structure elements) and thus including the port of Świnoujście in the supply chain related to the development of offshore wind energy;
• effective installation and future servicing of Offshore Wind Farms producing "green energy";
• effective inclusion of the port of Świnoujście in the supply chain related to the development of offshore wind energy.
According to the current schedule of construction works on two quays and dredging works in the port basin, the investment will be completed in December 2024 with obtaining an occupancy permit, respectively:
• two quays with initial assembly stations - on December 20, 2024 (saving of 9 days compared to the contract date agreed with the General Contractor, as well as within the date indicated in the contract with the lessee of the quays - Orlen Neptun 2 Spółka z o. o.);
• dredging works to a technical depth of 12.5 m in all access water areas - on September 1, 2024 (saving of 10 months compared to the contract date agreed with the General Contractor, as well as well in advance of the date indicated in the contract with the quay lessee - Orlen Neptun 2 Spółka z o. o.).
ZMPSiŚ SA received 85 percent co-financing of the total project costs: "Construction of the transhipment capacity of the sea port in Świnoujście to service the needs of offshore wind energy." The funding comes from the Connecting Europe Facility for 2021-2027 (CEF 2). The total cost of the project is EUR 77.5 million, the co-financing amount is EUR 65.9 million.
