The Norwegian, Czech and Danish quays will be ready soon

The Norwegian, Czech and Danish quays will soon become an important part of the Port of Szczecin. 14 out of 16 sections of the Czeskie quay have already been concreted, which will allow the opening of the first stage in the summer season. The contractor - NDI Group conducts works on all fronts of the project.

At the first stage of the construction of the Czeskie quay, reinforced concrete and track works are being completed. A railway track and a crane track were laid.

– We plan to obtain a permit to use the first stage of the Czeskie quay in June this year. At the same time, after receiving the occupancy permit, we will proceed to the second stage of expansion of the Czeskie quay, and then to the third and fourth stages. First, we will carry out demolition works, then piling works, both from land and water, and further reinforced concrete works - says Piotr Arabczyk, Project Director from the NDI Group.

Reinforced concrete works are also carried out on the Norwegian quay, where over 60 people work. In July, the team will start track work. In turn, the progress of works on the Danish quay is already 99%.

The Dębicki Canal is still deepened, and the excavated material is deposited on the island of Ostrów Mieleński. The dredging works are carried out in the amount of 0.6 million m3 out of approx. 1.5 million m3. At the same time, industry works are in progress: teletechnical, energy and water and sewage installations. The disposal site on the island will have a capacity of approx. 1 million m3. After completion of all dredging works in the Canal, the depth will be 12.5 m. It will be a continuation of the fairway, which already begins in Świnoujście.

- Most of the work is still in progress. The Czeskie i Słowackie Quay is divided into the so-called IV stages. Each subsequent stage can be started only after obtaining the occupancy permit for the previous one. Such a division is caused by the work of the Port, which must function all the time during the reconstruction, adds Piotr Arabczyk. Project Director from the NDI Group

The investment is one of the flagship projects implemented by ZMPSiŚ in the port of Szczecin. It aims to improve access to the port of Szczecin in the area of the Dębicki Canal. The modernization of the quays will ensure that their parameters are adjusted to handle the largest ships.

The project is co-financed by the European Union from the Cohesion Fund under the Operational Program Infrastructure and Environment. The gross cost is approx. PLN 343.1 million. The investor of the task is the Szczecin and Świnoujście Seaports Authority S.A., and the general contractor are companies from the NDI Group.
